Countless Trails

Trails in every direction. Ski and snowboard at Snowy Range Ski Area, or cross-country ski and fat bike the groomed trails at Tie City. When the snow melts, those same mountains turn into playgrounds for hiking, mountain biking, and climbing at Vedauwoo Recreation Area, just 20 minutes east.

Closer to town, the Pilot Hill trail system rises from Laramie’s eastern edge, linking neighborhood paths to miles of open prairie and foothill vistas. Or follow the Laramie River Greenbelt Trail for a peaceful walk or ride along cottonwoods and water, located a 5-minue walk from our West Side Original property.

Go Pokes

(Sure. It’s the dorkiest nickname ever, but Pokes fans are serious about their sports… ask my dad. Cheer on the Wyoming Cowboys (and Girls!) at War Memorial Stadium or the Arena Auditorium, or catch an exhibit at the University of Wyoming Art Museum.

Wes Anderson fans might especially appreciate the Geology Museum – not only does it have the look and feel of a Wes Anderson set, but it’s also got a truly impressive collection of dinosaurs and fossils.

Food, Drink & an Award-Winning Downtown

Our nationally recognized downtown is where Laramie folks gear up, unwind, and kill time in between adventures. It’s also where we connect through events year-round events like the Farmer’s Market, Jubilee Days, and the Laramie Winter Fest and where we support our community by shopping small.

Need groceries? Big Hollow Food Co-op is your go-to.
Need gear? Head to the Pedal House for bikes, and Base Camp and All Terrain for Everything else.
Need beer or wine to take home? Try Chalk & Cheese or The Still.
Want to grab a drink? Front Street is a classic. (Or hit the Buckhorn if you’re into taxidermy and local legend.)
Need a new read? Check out Night Heron and Second Story Books, both of which were featured in Outside Magazine piece, Adventure Town Bookstores Worth Traveling For.
Inspired by our plants? They were likely purchased at Poppy’s, but don’t miss The Green Oasis. It’s another favorite for green thumbs.

Laramie Plains Civic Center

Don’t let the boring name fool you; this is the Keep Laramie Weird corner of our community. Founded in 1878, the Laramie Plains Civic Center is one of Wyoming’s most historic structures — originally a schoolhouse, now a vibrant non-profit arts and community hub. Situated off of Grand Avenue at a halfway point between the downtown and campus, this is where locals hang out and create.

Sunshine Coffee - Zero Waste Coffee Shop this café offers a cozy spot to enjoy local flavors and community energy. Their breakfast burrito is a must-try, but remember to bring your own mug for to-go orders—luckily, we provide compostable to-go cups at Railtown Supply & Retreat so you can enjoy it sustainably
